Choosing the right semi-permanent technique can feel like a lot. This guide is here to make it calm and clear.
Inside, you'll find our three signature techniques — Feather Nano, Powder, and Combination brows — alongside everything you need to know before, during and after your appointment. Whether you want a softer morning routine or a fuller, defined look, the aim is the same: to help you find the brows that feel like you, with confidence.
My passion for brow artistry began during the 2020 lockdown, while I was studying law. What started as a hobby grew into a thriving studio, and over the past five years I've had the privilege of working with more than 750 clients.
After my master's degree, I had a real choice to make — a career in law, or growing Ivy Rose. I followed my passion, and it's safe to say I haven't looked back. In August 2023 I began intensive training in semi-permanent makeup with some of the field's leading artists, which led to opening a fully licensed studio offering premium, tailored brow treatments.
My focus has never changed: the highest quality of work, and brows you genuinely love.
Semi-permanent makeup (SPMU) enhances and defines your natural brows by delicately implanting pigment into the skin with ultra-fine needles. The result is long-lasting, beautifully shaped brows with soft fullness and symmetry — no daily makeup required.
Unlike traditional tattoos, the pigment fades gradually over one to three years, giving you the freedom to adapt your look over time. Every treatment is carried out in a calm, clinical-grade setting, with results tailored entirely to your features and style.
For a naturally beautiful look. A digital PMU machine creates fine, hair-like strokes that mimic real brow hairs. Gentler on the skin than microblading and suitable for a wide range of skin types — a subtle, realistic finish for those who prefer natural.
For a defined, makeup-like look. The brow is softly shaded to give the appearance of a filled-in tint — ideal for anyone who loves a fuller, polished finish that mirrors the effect of everyday makeup.
A balanced blend of soft shading and delicate hairstrokes — natural feathered strokes at the front, with definition and depth toward the tail. The perfect harmony of structure and subtlety.
Choosing where to have your brows done matters as much as the technique itself. Here's what every Ivy Rose treatment is built on.
A fully licensed studio, working to professional standards of safety and hygiene — so you can relax, knowing you're in safe hands.
A digital machine hairstroke method that's gentler on the skin and beautifully natural — backed by specialist training and ongoing education.
Your result is refined at a follow-up six to eight weeks later, included in the cost — because the finish is something we create together, over time.
You'll leave with everything you need to heal well, and I'm here for any questions throughout — your care doesn't end when you walk out the door.
For busy lives. No daily brow routine, no regular salon visits — you wake up with perfectly shaped brows and no effort.
Soft, natural definition that lasts. No smudging, no daily touch-ups — just beautifully balanced brows.
Suitable for most skin types, with technique recommendations tailored to your skin and lifestyle.
For brows thinned by over-plucking, naturally sparse hair, alopecia or treatments such as chemotherapy, semi-permanent brows can gently restore shape, softness and confidence — always with sensitivity and care.
Semi-permanent brows aren't suitable for everyone, or for every moment. If any of the below apply to you, let's talk before booking — your safety and your result always come first.
Uncontrolled diabetes, autoimmune disorders or some skin conditions may make treatment unsuitable, due to the potential for complications or slower healing.
Best postponed — hormonal changes and increased skin sensitivity can affect both healing and results.
Those on blood thinners or retinoids, or prone to keloid scarring, may not be suitable due to healing concerns.
Please wait until your skin has fully recovered from recent treatments such as peels or sunbeds before booking.
If you have known sensitivities to pigments or related products, let's discuss a patch test before we go ahead.
No blood thinners — Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Vitamin E — for 72 hours. Consult your doctor if needed.
Stop anti-ageing, brightening or acne products containing AHA, Vitamin A or Retinol 30 days before.
Avoid tweezing, waxing or tinting for one week before — I'll tidy any excess hairs during your treatment.
Avoid fish oil, Vitamin C, glucosamine, primrose oil and ginger for one week to prevent blood thinning.
Avoid facials, microneedling and injectables for four weeks prior to your appointment.
Avoid alcohol for 48 hours and caffeine for at least 24 hours before your appointment.
Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for two weeks before — sunburn will mean rescheduling, as the skin won't hold pigment well.
The client's natural brows, before her treatment.
Freshly defined and bold, exactly as expected on the day.
Healed and softened — the colour has settled and faded back, ready to refine.
Refined, balanced, and beautifully her own — the final result she felt truly confident in.

We discuss your goals and review your medical history and lifestyle to confirm suitability — usually before your first appointment.
We choose the perfect brow colour based on your skin tone, hair and personal preference, for a natural, flattering result.
Using precise measurements, we map the shape and symmetry of your brows — adjusting the design together until it meets your approval.
We apply pigment using your chosen technique — Feather, Powder or Combination — to your desired shape and density.
You'll leave with aftercare instructions and essential products, including tattoo butter, to soothe and protect your brows as they heal.
Your final result is perfected at a follow-up, usually six to eight weeks after your first treatment — included in the cost — where we make any adjustments for flawless, balanced brows.
Brows generally last 12–36 months depending on skin type and care, with a touch-up recommended every 12–24 months to maintain them.
Every treatment includes two appointments — your first session and your perfecting session — for one beautiful, lasting result.
Every price includes your consultation and suitability assessment, your first session, and your perfecting session six to eight weeks later — the essential second half of your treatment, not an added extra.
Most clients return for a colour top-up around 12–24 months, from £150–£200 depending on the work involved. Longevity varies with skin type, lifestyle and natural retention.
It all starts with a consultation. Book yours on Booksy — we'll talk everything through in person, and once we've found the right look for you, we'll book your first treatment appointment together for whenever suits you.
No. Microblading uses a manual blade; at Ivy Rose we use a digital device to create precise, controlled strokes that cause less trauma to the skin — ideal even for oily or sensitive skin. The result is longer-lasting and more natural, with a gentler approach. This advanced machine hairstroke technique remains relatively uncommon, as it calls for specialist training and ongoing education — both of which are central to how I work.
Both use needles to deposit pigment into the skin. But semi-permanent makeup uses a different technique and pigment depth, which gives a shorter lifespan and a more natural-looking result than a traditional tattoo.
Expect three to five hours. Creating the perfect brows takes time and precision, so please plan for a relaxed, unhurried session.
They last 12–36 months depending on your skin, lifestyle and aftercare, with a touch-up recommended every 12–24 months. Not sure when to book? Pop in for a quick wax or consultation and I'll advise on the best timing for you.
